Sunday Best

We took a slow walk down into the valley earlier today with the dogs. The autumn days are sunny and beautiful, but there’s a definite chill in the air signalling winter is near. Far too quickly, the poplar trees have lost their golden sheen. Little Livia has finally found her feet at 16 months. She’s changing by the day and is totally ready to run and clamber about as she experiments with different sounds and actions. She had her lunch down in the vlei with the dogs mulling around and the sheep and cows grazing in the distance. Duma, our 4 month old boerboel puppy, is getting so big! But he is a very friendly brute and has adapted well to our pack. A bit of quiet family bonding with my loves was the perfect way to end off a relaxing long weekend!

  1. Hi Marisa.
Thank you so very much for the interesting and informative posts you take time to write.
In a couple of weeks my hubby John and I are moving from the big city to live on our friends’s farm near George. It is very exciting for us to realise a lifelong dream without having to buy our own farm yet. We will be in a position to scout around and look for the one we want. We want to begin our aquaponics system of growing food, establish a solar electricity system and gravity fed water system as our first projects. We’re going to be busy!!
Keep the blogs comin’ .. you make me want to be out in the fresh air.. away from tolls, crime and smog!
    Love Andy

    • Hi Andy! Thanks so much for getting in touch. Your move sounds so exciting! Wishing you all the best with all your projects. I haven’t had much time of late to try new things but hopefully when the babies are a bit bigger I’ll get stuck into learning some new things again. My first few years on the farm have been an amazing learning experience though. Have loved every minute, especially the fresh air and absence of traffic!
